Where science is at the heart of community

Pioneer Group have for many years delivered high-quality laboratory and office space to rent across the UK. In some cases they have established new locations for life sciences, while in others they’ve helped to re-develop and bring new life into established sites. In Manchester, Kent and Middlesbrough we were tasked with creating anniversary films for the sites to celebrate their history and legacy.

our approach

Although each location had some similar themes and motifs, we wanted each video to feel unique to its own setting. While the differing history for the sites provided some varying context, we knew that the unique human stories of each location would be key for this, and so we set about in our pre-production process interviewing and gathering stories. We also wanted the buildings themselves to serve as characters within each film, and so we were looking for stories that specifically helped to tie together the people and the place.

A key part of the process for us was staying flexible on our filming days to new stories that may emerge. In fact on one day, an unsuspecting conversation in a lift led us to a undiscovered story that ended up featuring significantly in one of our films.

event screenings

We were thrilled to see these short films shared to audiences at anniversary events. There were smiles, chuckles and even tears as special memories and stories were captured on film. It’s great to see people moved by our work, and these events were a wonderful occasion to see the power of story and film at work.

I think this video is amazing, just watching it actually made me feel quite emotional. To capture the story and the essence of what we are all about is so important - you and the team have done us proud.
