“My face matters, my culture matters, my people matter”

Books are a big part of how children learn about the diverse history and culture of their own ancestry and the world beyond. But the books that are available in Primary schools aren’t representatively reflective of that diversity. Better Books set out to address this issue and asked for our support in creating a campaign film to do this.

Over £20,000 raised through the campaign, double the client’s goal.

our approach

There were filming restrictions at the time of this project, and so all of the interviews needed to be recorded remotely. Rather than seeing this as a barrier to the story, we used this as its strength, leaning into the authentic tone this created. We then paired these soundbites with beautiful portrait shots from across the city’s diverse community.
